Tonight
Ten for the evening
One to ten. Newest, most watched, highest on the Living Meter. Prime, Disney+, Hulu, Hallmark, Acorn, and Netflix.
Kindness taught as a practice. Soft, and mostly on the right side for a small child.
Sofia's mother marries a king. The girl is not born to it, which is the useful part: the gown is not the lesson, the lesson is how she treats the person the room is ignoring. The show is gentle to a fault. Problems resolve by the end of the song. A small child can use the gentleness. An older one will notice nothing is allowed to stay broken.
Fine for the early years, one episode, not a queue. Say out loud that a real courtesy is not finished when the music is.
Industry

Lessons, not labor. The castle runs itself.
Household

A mother, a new father, step-siblings. The blend is the story's good instinct.

Amulet magic. The better episodes do not need it.
Courage

The brave thing is usually telling the truth to a royal.
Republic

A court. She is asked to notice the servants and the village.
Temperance
7/10
Tantrums are not the prize. Sharing is, on a loop.
Truth

She is often the one who admits the mistake.
Stewardship
5/10
A title taught as service. Thin, but pointed the right way.
Live historicallyHave a child practice one courtesy that costs them the better seat.
A wide overview. Useful as a map, too smooth to be the map's last word.
A house that does not know the order of things, settlement, revolution, the river, the war, the factory, the highway, cannot tell a true story about the present. This series gives the order in a voice that wants you to feel inspired. Take the order. Go to a better book for the chapter that the inspiration sands down.
Industry
6/10
Canals, railroads, factories. Making is in the story.
Household
4/10
Families are examples more than characters.
Piety

Providence is offstage. The tone is documentary uplift.
Courage

Wars and crossings are included.
Republic
6/10
The country is the subject, which television usually will not sit with.
Temperance
6/10
Broad, not lurid.
Truth
5/10
True in outline, proud in narration, thin on the argument.
Stewardship
6/10
It exists to hand a sequence down. The sequence is worth having.
Live historicallyPick one chapter and read twenty pages of a real history after the episode.
A teenage mystery that still believes a missing person should be looked for.
Coben's pattern is a comfortable place sitting on a crime. Here the detective is a teenager, which makes the courage smaller and more believable: he asks again after the adults have accepted the story. That is worth an evening for the age that is ready for a thriller and not ready for Yellowjackets.
Industry
4/10
School and a search. The search is the work.

A suburb with a secret. The secret indicts the comfortable street.
Temperance
5/10
Tense, not rotten.
Truth
6/10
A disappearance is a fact. They treat it as one.
Stewardship
4/10
The question is who the town is willing to lose.
Live historicallyIf a child you know has gone quiet, be the adult who does not accept the easy story.
Independence is a craft, not a mood. The poster does not show who gets sick.
Leaving a grid can be stewardship if you know what you are refusing and what you still owe the people who cannot leave. It can also be a costume of self-reliance that still orders parts from a warehouse and calls it pioneer. The desk has the title, not the homestead. The test is dull. Who eats in February. Who is ill. Who pays. Who is abandoned so the cabin can look pure.
Watch it for technique if technique is shown. Do not watch it as a permission to disappear on the people who would notice.
Industry
7/10
The skill, if real, is the point.
Household

Stewardship
5/10
Real skill is worth keeping. The romance of exit is not.
Live historicallyLearn one skill that would keep your actual neighbors warm.
A village that shares a roof. Bland, harmless, and thin.
The old idea is a commune of trades — one cooks, one paints, one is grouchy — and a hungry man outside who would bottle them. Children like the color and the rescue. There is not much else. Papa Smurf solves it. Compared with Frog and Toad or Arthur, it does not leave a child with a sentence.
Acceptable filler for the very young. Do not let it crowd out a story that asks something of them.
Industry
4/10
Each Smurf has a job. The jobs are a gag more than a craft.
Household
5/10
No parents. A village that raises itself, which is the fantasy and the lack.
Piety
2/10
Papa Smurf is authority by height. Little else.
Courage

They rescue one another from Gargamel, on a loop.
Republic
6/10
The village is the point: nobody is the hero for long, except by turn.
Temperance
5/10
Mild. The villain is incompetent on purpose.
Truth
4/10
Simple and repeated.
Stewardship
5/10
A common life, with nothing particular to hand on but the village.
Live historicallyGive everyone at the table one real job for the meal, and name the jobs.
The courage is the walk out. The drill was the first sin. Adults. The creature is the usual last reel.
Norah and the others are workers when the film begins, which is more than most monster pictures allow. They follow procedure, they lose people, they keep moving. The pressure is a fair picture of consequence. Then the deep produces a thing, because the genre cannot bill a film on procedure alone. Stewardship has already been violated by the well. The monster is a late sermon.
If you watch it, watch it for the crew that does not panic first. Do not let the last creature erase the earlier fact. They should not have been down there for the reason they were down there.

Stewardship
4/10
The good to keep is the crew, not the reveal.
Live historicallyDo not call a danger noble if you dug the hole for profit.
Memory is a duty. The desk will not invent an illness to give the poster a plot.
The phrase is a plea. Films that use it are often about a mind that is losing its names, which is a grave and common sorrow, or about a romance that thinks being remembered is the same as being faithful. The tile does not say which, and this house will not supply a diagnosis for atmosphere.
If it is the sorrow, bring patience and do not treat the sick as a lesson in your own feelings. If it is the romance, the plea is cheaper. Either way the true act is older than the movie: you keep a person by showing up while they can still see you.
Industry

Live historicallyRemember one living person on purpose this week, with a visit and not a post.
The end is marriage, which is right. The method is gossip and appetite.
Courtship aimed at marriage is closer to the standard than a dozen shows that treat a vow as a lifestyle option. Give Bridgerton that. Then take it back, gently. The season it sells is a sport of appetite, scandal, and bodies, and the work of an actual house — money earned, children raised, a name kept — is wallpaper.
It is a confection. Eat a confection on purpose, not as dinner. If you watch it, watch the difference between wanting someone and being fit to keep a life with them. The show knows the difference in flashes and then throws a ball to make you forget. You do not have to forget.
Industry
3/10
Nobody works, except the servants the camera forgets.
Household
6/10
Marriage is the goal, not the joke. Fidelity is at least a question.
Piety
2/10
The season is a market. Reverence would slow the dresses.
Courage
5/10
A few characters risk reputation for love. That is not nothing.
Republic
4/10
Society here is a rumor mill, not a set of duties.
Temperance

Lust is the engine and the reward. It catechizes.
Truth

Gossip is the narrator. A good name is a toy.
Stewardship
4/10
An heir matters. What the heir is for does not.
Live historicallyPlan one evening that is actually courtship: a walk, a conversation, no performance for strangers.
Keep it. Friendship, a game, and the humiliation of having to tell the truth about the ball.
Smalls is awkward and the film lets him be awkward without a makeover montage. The team is a society with rituals, most of them silly, one of them the willingness to include the kid who cannot throw. The beast next door is a tall tale that resolves into a neighbor. The parents are present at the edges, which is right for a summer when children still had a lot to themselves. Benny's catch is joy. The confession about the ball is the moral.
A boy can watch this more than once. It will not make him cruel. It may make him want to go outside, which is a good outcome and increasingly rare.

Keep it, knowing it loves a myth. The gift is not for the gamblers or for his vanity.
Roy Hobbs is almost destroyed by a fascination and a wound, and the film is more radiant than it is strict about that. Iris in the stands, a son he did not know, a team that is not a vehicle for his legend: these correct him. The last at-bat is pure storybook, and a house is allowed a storybook if it has told the truth about the years he lost. The gamblers are the clear no.
A boy with a gift should see the middle, not only the lights. The lights are what people will offer him. The middle is the character.
