The best thing about it is that they become neighbors. The joke takes a while to allow that.

The Roses are useless on purpose at the start, and the town is the instrument that makes them specific. The show becomes gentle, which is why people love it, and the gentleness is earned by work behind a counter. Watch it for that turn. Do not adopt the early voice while you wait for the turn.

A vigilante who is at least solemn about it. Still a man who replaced the courts.

This is Batman for people tired of the joke version. The art is serious and the cases have a shape. The old objection stands: a good city needs detectives who testify, not an heir in a mask. Watch it as a noir, not as a civics lesson.
