Advertisements
The want was not invited.
An advertisement is not a story a family asked for. It is a want, made by someone who is not in the room, and set in front of the people who are. We score it with the same eight values as a film. That number is the Live Historic Score. Eighty or above, you can sit with it. Under 45, it does not belong in the hour.

75 of 96 on this list. 21 still being scored. These are the advertisements we have brought in. This is not every advertisement ever sold.
Manipulation and consumerism
Manipulation does not argue. It uses a fear, a child, a body, or a clock. A person who was steered did not choose. The eight questions have nowhere to put that except as a failure. Conscience is piety. A clock that will not let you wait is the opposite of temperance. A child put to work selling the box has already lost the household.
Consumerism is the lesson that getting is the same as living. Heritage values go the other way. Work comes before the thing it buys. A home is not a showroom. Temperance is knowing when the hour is finished. Stewardship is what is left when the purchase is over. An advertisement that needs you to want more, forever, is teaching the opposite of all four.
A plain price for a useful thing can pass. A war bond that asks a house to go without can pass. A poster that says do not buy this, and means it, can pass. A feeling sold in place of the thing cannot. The score is of the advertisement, not of the person who had to watch it.
By year
Each bar is how many scored advertisements we have from that year, on the list you have open. The line is their Live Historic Score, from 0 to 100. One advertisement can move a year. The early years are few. This is our list, not a census.
The eight, across the years
Zero to ten. A year with one advertisement is that advertisement. The lines fall where the want replaced the thing: temperance, truth, and what is left after you.
