Shark Tank

A rare show about a price, a cost, and a customer. The theater is the investors' personalities.

Ignore the chairs and listen to the part where someone asks what it costs to make one and who already buys it. That is a healthier half hour than most of the row, because it believes reality pushes back. The personalities are the tax you pay for the lesson. Do not confuse a rich person's contempt with standards.

The eight

  1. Industry

    8/10

Unit cost, customer, debt. Work is the language.

  2. Household

    4/10

Many pitches are a family's savings. The family is in the seats.

  3. Piety

    2/10

The only virtue announced is the deal.

  4. Courage

    6/10

They stand there and ask. That exposure is real.

  5. Republic

    4/10

A market, not a polity. Still a public test of a claim.

  6. Temperance

    4/10

Greed is shared and, unusually, itemized.

  7. Truth

    7/10

Numbers are the truth the pitch cannot dance past.

  8. Stewardship

    5/10

A business that works is a thing handed to employees and children.

Live historicallyKnow the cost of one thing you sell or one thing you make, including your own hour.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Size used to help. Gentle, repetitive, true enough for a small child.

Clifford is big so that a small child can think about what you do with strength. The answer, every time, is that you help and you are careful of other people's things. The repetition is a feature at that age.

Fine. Stop before the adult in the room is using it as a babysitter for the whole morning.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

Being a neighbor is the work. Nobody has a trade on screen for long.

  2. Household

    6/10

A girl and a dog and a mother. The dog is care, daily.

  3. Piety

    3/10

Kindness is the lesson, aimed at a child and not sneering.

  4. Courage

    4/10

Clifford uses his size for someone smaller.

  5. Republic

    5/10

A town that has to adjust to a creature who does not fit the sidewalk.

  6. Temperance

    8/10

No appetite, no cruelty. The lessons repeat because the audience is young.

  7. Truth

    6/10

The mistake is named and repaired before the credits.

  8. Stewardship

    5/10

A pet as a responsibility that does not end when the joke does.

Live historicallyHave a child use a strength they have — height, a loud voice, being older — for someone who needed it. Once.
