Tohru is given a place to live, and she answers with a kindness that is almost too much. Under the zodiac joke is a family terrorized by a parent's unresolved life. That is worth recognizing. The series is long and soft. It is a reasonable one for an older child who needs a picture of staying kind without pretending the house is fine.

Temperance Brennan is great at a hard job and bad at people, and the series lets the job stay great while she learns the people. That is a better arc than House, because it does not bless the coldness. The cost is the weekly corpse. If you can keep the corpse from becoming your comfort watch, the partnership is a fair story.
