The Smurfs

A brand on a field trip. The village is forgotten as soon as the billboard appears.

The 2011 Smurfs takes a village and drops it in Manhattan so the fish can be out of water. There is nothing in the trip for a child except the color and the name. Prefer the lost-village film if you must pick one, and prefer neither if the afternoon can hold a real story. This is a commercial.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

New York is a backdrop. Work is a gag.

  2. Household

    3/10

A village reduced to a mascot.

  3. Piety

    1/10

Nothing is reverent. The city is the joke.

  4. Courage

    3/10

They run. The running is the plot.

  5. Republic

    2/10

No public, only a chase through one.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

    Noise and product.

  7. Truth

    3/10

It does not pretend to be the old stories. It also does not replace them with anything.

  8. Stewardship

    1/10

What it hands on is the toy.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

An engagement that requires you to leave the human table is not a vow.

Eclipse offers Bella a ring and a battle and treats them as the same kind of promise. They are not. A vow is a way of staying. This one is a schedule for leaving her father, her friends, and her own pulse, and the film lights it like a proposal because it has nothing else it believes in. The wolves and the vampires can settle their feud without a girl agreeing to be unmade.

Do not hand it to a young person. If you already know the story, you do not need the battle to remember the lesson: intensity is not fidelity.

The eight

  1. Industry

    2/10

Nobody's work survives the mythology. School is a rumor.

  2. Household

    3/10

A father is still cooking. She is arranging to depart the species. The film calls this romance.

  3. Piety

    2/10

Death is the bridal gift. That is not reverence.

  4. Courage

    4/10

People fight. They fight for a couple, not for a town.

  5. Republic

    2/10

A war of clans with humans as the scenery.

  6. Temperance

    1/10

Wanting him is still the only virtue, and now it includes a plan to die.

  7. Truth

    3/10

She hides the scale of the choice from the parent who would refuse it.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

Nothing is handed on except a sequel and a colder life.
