Care Bears

Kindness as a product. Harmless, and too sweet to be the only food.

For a very small child, a story where the answer to meanness is not meanness is allowable. It becomes a problem if caring is only a beam from a stomach and never a chore. Use it briefly. Follow it with something where a person has a job.

Beetlejuice

Lydia is allowed to like strange things. The ghost is not a friend to copy.

The series is the film's joke stretched into Saturdays: Lydia is serious, the adults are fools, Beetlejuice is a id with a name. A child who already likes monsters can watch an episode and not be wounded.

Do not let the con man become the imaginary friend you encourage. The part worth keeping is a girl who is odd and still goes home.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

He runs scams. She does school. Neither is a craft the show respects for long.

  2. Household

    4/10

A living family that does not quite know her, and a dead one that does.

  3. Piety

    1/10

The afterlife is a bureaucracy played for a laugh.

  4. Courage

    4/10

She is not afraid of the dead. Fearlessness without judgment is the risk.

  5. Republic

    2/10

Offices of the dead, all corrupt, all jokes.

  6. Temperance

    5/10

Gross, not cruel. The grossness is the flavor.

  7. Truth

    4/10

It tells you he is a pest. It also wants you to like the pest.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

A girl handed a trickster instead of a grown person.

Live historicallyIf a child quotes him, ask whether the quote was kind. Keep the oddness. Drop the torment.
