Limetown

The reporting is the good part. A company did something to minds. The series does not finish what it starts.

The first episodes are a reporter who will not accept that a town of people can be filed and forgotten. That is a civic instinct, and it is the reason to watch. The answer, when it comes, is about an experiment and a family secret, and the telling runs out of road.

Take the reporter. Do not rearrange your evening around a mystery the makers did not finish.

The eight

  1. Industry

    6/10

Lia reports. The job is asking, checking, going back.

  2. Household

    4/10

An uncle, a vocation inherited from a disappearance. Not a household.

  3. Piety

    2/10

The mystery wears a spiritual coat. The cause is a program.

  4. Courage

    6/10

She keeps the story when she is told to drop it.

  5. Republic

    5/10

A private research town is a kind of unaccountable government.

  6. Temperance

    5/10

Dread, measured. It does not gore.

  7. Truth

    6/10

It is interested in what was done, not in how spooky a empty street looks.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

Unfinished. A question is not yet an inheritance.

Live historicallyFollow one local question through to a name and a fact. Stop when you have both.

Batman: Caped Crusader

A vigilante who is at least solemn about it. Still a man who replaced the courts.

This is Batman for people tired of the joke version. The art is serious and the cases have a shape. The old objection stands: a good city needs detectives who testify, not an heir in a mask. Watch it as a noir, not as a civics lesson.

The eight

  1. Industry

    6/10

Detection and a city of working crooks. The craft is the pleasure.

  2. Household

    3/10

No family. Alfred is a staff.

  3. Piety

    3/10

    A private vow, sternly kept.

  4. Courage

    6/10

He goes out. The city is not saved by a speech.

  5. Republic

    3/10

The police are corrupt or secondary. He remains the exception.

  6. Temperance

    6/10

It refuses the joke. That restraint is the improvement.

  7. Truth

    6/10

Crime has causes and culprits. Both are allowed.

  8. Stewardship

    4/10

A city he will not join except through a mask.

Live historicallyIf you admire the detective, admire the part that can stand up in court.
