Ms. Rachel

A careful voice for a baby. It is still a screen standing where a person should stand.

Ms. Rachel is one of the few people on this row who speaks to a baby as if the baby were a person. That is why parents trust her, and it is also the risk. A recorded woman cannot hand the child back. Use a song of hers when you need the words. Then use your own voice for the rest of the hour. The show is a tool. It is not a parent.

Finding Her Edge

The ice is real work. The lie that pays for the rink is the part the show loves.

The Russo sisters can actually skate, and a father is trying to keep a rink that is failing. That is a story. Finding Her Edge cannot leave it alone. Adriana takes a new partner and pretends to love him so a sponsor will pay, while the old partner waits in the wings. A house under money pressure is a real test. A fake romance as the solution teaches a girl that her affection is a tool.

An older teen will understand the crush and miss the ledger. If you watch an episode, watch the practice and the bills. Turn it off when the lie becomes the reason to press play.
