Wish Dragon

Wishes aimed at status. The film pulls him back toward his mother and the friend. The pull is the review.

Wish Dragon is a boy about to spend a miracle on seeming rich. The film is commercial and bright, and it does land on the mother and the friend rather than on the skyline. A child can watch it. Say what the last wish should have been, and do not let the palace be the picture they redraw the next day.

Doctor Strange

Pride humbled, then a franchise. The humbling is the part that counts. Adults.

Strange's hands are the moral event. He was a man who would not take the hard case if it would not make him famous. Kamar-Taj offers a rule, a master, and a war against a devouring eternity. He learns enough to bargain cleverly at the end, which is both growth and the old vice in a new cloak. The Ancient One's lie about her power source is the film's best discomfort: institutions hide a theft to keep the work going.

Adults. Take the hospital scenes and the lesson that mastery is obedience to a craft. Leave the cape if it starts to be the character. A gift that does not make you useful to a patient was a performance.
