Upload

A satire of a heaven you subscribe to. The satire is right. The romance muddies it.

A heaven with in-app purchases is a good joke, and it is aimed at the right target: a culture that thinks money should decide even the end. The show then wants you to care about the romance inside the product. Care about the joke. Be wary of a story that kills the body and then asks you to find that romantic.

Psych

A friendship and a skill. The lie is the premise, and the show thinks the lie is charming.

Shawn Spencer can see, because his father made him see. That is a good origin. He then sells the seeing as a supernatural gift, and the show never stops finding that funny. The friendship with Gus is loyal and funny enough to be the reason people stayed. Stay for that if you stay, and notice that the laugh requires a public lie.
