Grey's Anatomy
The craft is real. The house is the joke they keep sleeping through.
For twenty years this show has known how to film a pair of hands saving a stranger, which is a serious thing, and how to film the same hands undoing a marriage, which it likes better. The patients are often the moral adults in the hour. The doctors are the teenagers with better vocabulary.
Do not put it on for anyone still learning what a vow is. If you are grown and you already know, watch one case where the medicine is the point, then turn it off before the on-call room. The skill is not the permission.
The eight
Industry
7/10
An operating room is treated as a craft with a cost when you are sloppy.
Household
3/10
Marriage is a rotation. Children arrive and the show rarely lets them change the adults.
Piety
3/10
A chaplain sometimes tells the truth. The hospital's real creed is desire and status.
Courage
6/10
They take the hopeless case. Sometimes that is courage and sometimes it is vanity.
Republic
5/10
A teaching hospital is a small republic. It is usually losing to the personal plot.
Temperance
3/10
Other people's bodies are the workplace. The staff treat their own limits as optional.
Truth
4/10
A diagnosis can be honest. The personal life is a pile of lies that the show finds romantic.
Stewardship
4/10
Interns are supposed to inherit a standard. They inherit the affairs.
