Shark Tale

A liar gets the life he wanted. The film scolds him late and enjoys him the whole way.

Shark Tale is a comedy about a fraud that works. Oscar is funny because he is dishonest, and the reef rewards him until the plot requires a confession. Children hear the confession and remember the fame. This is one to skip. The ocean is not the problem. The lesson that a good story about yourself is better than the work is the problem.

  4. Courage

    3/10

The brave act, when it comes, is admitting the truth. It comes after the party.

  5. Republic

A city of hustles. Telling the truth is a personal cleanup, not a duty to the reef.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

The appetite for being seen is the engine.

  7. Truth

    4/10

The film knows he lied. It also needed you to like the lie.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

What he almost hands on is a reputation built on nothing.

Live historicallyLeave it off the list. If it has been seen, ask what Oscar did for a living before he was believed.

The Ring

A mother trying to outrun a curse. The film wants the curse more than the mother.

Naomi Watts plays a woman who is bad at sitting still and suddenly has a reason not to. A child was wronged, and the wrong did not end when the child did. That is the serious kernel. The film's actual offer is a week of skilled fright and an ending that makes contagion the solution. Survival by handing the horror to the next person is a precise failure of the last measure.

Not for anyone young. Grown viewers who want a ghost can do better than a story whose moral is: pass it on.

The eight

  1. Industry

    4/10

Reporting is the method. The method is in service of a ghost story.

  2. Household

    3/10

A son is in danger. He is also a device to make the deadline hurt.

  3. Piety

    2/10

    Dread replaces conscience.

  4. Courage

    5/10

She keeps looking when looking is how you die.

  5. Republic

    3/10

    Other people's deaths are clues.

  6. Temperance

    2/10

Fear is the product, made with care.

  7. Truth

    4/10

She wants the true story of a harmed child. The truth does not save anyone.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

Passing the tape on is the only survival, which is the opposite of stewardship.

Live historicallyIf you have a story in the house that only continues by being repeated to someone new, stop repeating it.
