Leave It to Beaver
Gentle to a fault. The fault is not the family. The fault is pretending no trouble is large.
Beaver tells the truth by the end of the episode, and his father does not humiliate him for the delay. That structure is sound. The world around it has been cleaned until a child might think every problem is a broken window. Use it for the structure. Supply the larger world yourself, later, without sneering at the house that could confess a small thing.
