Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer are the reason it exists, and the reason is enough for ninety minutes of noise. The scientist did the work. The friend stumbles into the serum. The film likes the stumble more than the work, which is the usual Hollywood preference, and it does not pretend otherwise.

A thirteen-year-old will not be harmed. She also will not be fed. If it is on, let it be on. Do not clear an evening.

The first film sent a man toward his daughter through a Spain that had come apart. The tile this morning is the next stretch of that road. A house does not need the new geography to make the judgment: if the only stories we can tell about a father are stories in which the world has ended, we have gotten lazy. The love is real. The menu of corpses is a habit.

Not for thirteen as a top-of-app feature. If the first one was already watched, you know whether your child came away thinking about the daughter or about the dead.
