Pulp Fiction

34It will not make you better. Not an average of critics. Eight questions, one house.

One true note: a man who decides to stop. Around it, cool violence as a style. Adults. Do not start a teenager on the style.

The desk does not need a new plot summary of a film this famous. It needs the warning attached to the tile a thirteen-year-old can see between a Lego movie and John Wick: the wit is real, the courage of the man who quits is real, and the cool is a lie that has already lasted thirty years. Children do not come for Ezekiel. They come for the walk.

Not tonight. Not at that age. If an adult watches it, do not quote the killers at the table afterward.

The eight

  1. Industry

    4/10

A boxer who will not throw the fight. Killers with a craft they should not have.

  2. Household

    3/10

A marriage among thieves. Loyalty without a good.

  3. Piety

    4/10

Jules quotes Ezekiel and, for a minute, means to change. That minute is the only piety.

  4. Courage

    5/10

Butch goes back for the man who was hunting him. It is the best act in the film.

  5. Republic

    2/10

No city. A set of rooms.

  6. Temperance

    2/10

Heroin, rape, a gun as a personality. The film is temperate about none of it and witty about all of it.

  7. Truth

    5/10

Jules's walk-out is a true turn. The movie will not live there.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

What a generation handed on was the soundtrack of the shooting, not the quitting.

A sequel about not performing goodness. Still a mascot itself.

Mal flees Auradon because love there requires a makeover. That instinct is fair. The film resolves it with a bigger makeover and a pirate boyfriend and a swordfight among the children of trademarks. The island's injustice — children punished for their parents — remains the only serious idea, and it remains unused except as a set.

If the first is already in the house, this adds little. Watch it only if you will actually talk about whether the 'good' place was asking for a costume. If not, skip. You will not miss a moral you did not already hear.
