Tonight
Ten for the evening
One to ten. Newest, most watched, highest on the Living Meter. Prime, Disney+, Hulu, Hallmark, Acorn, and Netflix.
A case, a plaintiff, a lie with a letterhead. This is what the form is for.
Grisham's useful story is that a poor client's death can be paperwork to the people who caused it, and that paperwork can be made to speak. The series is another pass at that story. It will overheat. The overheating is forgivable because the place it asks you to care about is a courtroom rather than a man with a gun.
Watch it when you want the argument that the law is slow and still the instrument.
Industry

A master who does not want a student. The story is whether she takes the duty anyway.
The interesting question is not the lightsaber. It is whether a gifted person who was failed by her own teacher will pass anything on, or will keep the skill as a private relic. A craft that dies with you was only a hobby with a weapon.
Watch for the scenes where she has to trust someone younger and less certain. If the show forgets that and goes back to a parade of cameos, you have your answer and you can leave. If she stays and teaches, stay with her.
Industry
6/10
She is competent. Competence without a shop or a town gets abstract.
Household
4/10
No house. The nearest thing is a student she keeps at arm's length.
Piety
5/10
An order, a master, a way. It is a discipline, half abandoned.
Courage
7/10
She walks toward the old enemy. That part is not theoretical.
Republic
5/10
A galaxy after a war still needs people who will serve something smaller than glory.
Temperance
6/10
Little excess. Also little warmth. Restraint without joy is incomplete.
Truth
6/10
The past she tells and the past she hides are the real plot.
Stewardship
7/10
Teaching the next person is the only stewardship on offer. She resists it.
Live historicallyTeach one younger person a piece of work you actually know. Not a link. Your hands, their hands.
Keep it. Work, a teacher, a father, and a son who does not despise the mine he refuses.
Homer Hickam wants the sky in a town that measures a man by the shift. The film is excellent because it does not make the father a villain for loving the mine, or the son a saint for leaving it. Miss Riley sees him. The friends build the thing, fail, and build it again. That is industry with a face. The union, the strike, the black dust are not scenery. They are the life the dream is arguing with, and the argument stays filial.
A boy can watch this and come away wanting to do his homework. There are worse results. Say, at the end, that the teacher who stayed late is as much the hero as the rocket.
Industry
10/10
The rockets are practice, scrap, and more practice.
Household
8/10

It hands a young person the habit of trying the thing again.
Live historicallyHelp one young person finish a hard thing that is not your plan for them.
Keep it. A Sabbath kept is not a small thing beside a gold medal.
Abrahams runs against a snobbery that is real, and his pride is also real. Liddell runs as a form of praise, and when the heat is set on Sunday he will not budge. The film does not treat that as a neurosis. It treats it as a man who knows who he is when the committee is waiting. Competition is given its joy. It is not given the last word.
A house that thinks faith is a private hobby can watch this and be corrected without a lecture. The lecture is the calendar. Some hours are not for sale.

It hands on a limit.
Live historicallyKeep one holy limit this week even if it costs you an advantage.
A person is a person, no matter how small. The sentence is the film. It holds.
Horton's line is older than the movie and the movie does not squander it. The speck is a city. The city is full of people who cannot make the large world hear them until one child shouts. The kangaroo wants order, safety, and no inconvenient lives. She is the villain, and she is a parent, which is the warning.
Faithful to the book in the only way that matters. A house should know this sentence by heart. The film is a fair way to learn it.
Industry

He carries the clover through weather and mockery. That is his job.

Stewardship
9/10
The entire plot is stewardship of lives you could step on.
Live historicallyDefend one small person whose voice the room has decided not to hear.
Friendship, a farm, and a death that is not a betrayal. One of the true ones.
Wilbur is a spring pig, which means he is scheduled to die, and Charlotte spends her silk to stop it. She succeeds. She also dies, because that is what spiders do, and the film does not cheat this into a reunion. Fern grows up and starts to look away from the barn, which is also true, and also a grief.
E. B. White's story is one of the few that trusts a child with mortality without using it as a thrill. Watch this version for that trust. The famous words in the web are not marketing. They are a friend spending her life.
Industry
7/10
A farm with chores, a fair, a spider's actual craft.
Household
8/10
Fern, a pig, a barn household. Growing up pulls her toward the boy and away from the pen.

She saves him and leaves him her children. That is the whole charge.
Live historicallyTell a child the truth about a good thing that does not last, and do not rush past it.
A found household against a tyranny. One of the better uses of this costume. Older children.
Ezra is a street boy. The ship that takes him is not a school so much as a house with a mission: Hera flies, Kanan is a failed teacher trying again, Sabine has a people, Zeb has a grief. The Empire is not abstract. It occupies a planet and strips it. The series is about whether a cell can stay a family while it fights.
Better for a twelve-year-old than the louder wars, because the crew has to come back to the same galley. Watch for the episodes where they choose the people over the strike. That is the measure.
Industry

A ship is work. Everyone has a station.
Household

Live historicallyAsk what a small group you are actually in — a crew, a street, a church — is willing to refuse together.
Brothers who like the creature enough to tell the truth about it. One of the better things on the children's shelf.
Chris and Martin Kratt have been doing this long enough that the suit gadgets are beside the point. The point is a child who can say what a creature eats, how it keeps its young, and why you do not drag it home. The villain plots are simple. The footage and the facts are generous.
Good for Kiki and Louise, and not an insult to Annie. Watch one and then go look at one real animal where you live, even a sparrow, and say one true sentence about it.
Industry

Care as a job with a protocol. Short, and pointed the right way.
Each short is a patient: a person Baymax will not abandon because the situation is awkward, messy, or socially inconvenient. The comedy is a large inflatable nurse taking the work literally. The moral is the same as the film's and cleaner, because there is less team and more bedside.
Good for children. Watch one and talk about the person who needed help, not the gadget. The gadget is only faithful.

A father, three sisters, and a lie that has to become a conversation. The romance is the smaller part.
Under the contract-romance gimmick there is a house that lost a mother and did not fall apart. The father cooks. The sisters fight and cover for each other. The letters are a girl telling the truth in a drawer because she is not ready to tell it at the table. When the drawer opens, the film gets interesting, and then it gets cute again, which is a loss.
Watch it for the kitchen, not for the locker. A pretend couple is a thin story. A father who is still making dinner after the worst year of his life is a thick one. Take that, and leave the fantasy that a popular boy is the repair.
Industry
4/10
It is a school year. The work that counts is the work of keeping a house.
Household
7/10
