Pass it on
Witness
68Worth an evening.
The barn-raising is the picture. The gun coming back into the valley is the problem.
The review
Keep the barn. Keep the grandfather's authority. Keep the fact that a people can refuse a tool the rest of the country thinks is ordinary. Let go of the idea that the armed outsider is the real man and the farm is his reward. The film leans that way and then, to its credit, sends him back.
Watch it. When the gun returns, say that this is where the movie stops telling the truth about the people it has been admiring.

The glance
Temperance is the thin one.
Is appetite shown and then put down, or are you being trained to want the next one?
This phone is set for a grown person, just me. Change the ages.

Their nonresistance is practiced, not explained into nothing.
- 6Courage
The detective's courage is a gun. Their courage is refusal. The film wants both.

- 7Stewardship
The boy and the farm are what has to be kept out of the city's story.
