Pass it on
The Waltons
78Worth an evening.
Put this on when you want the house itself to be the story, not the furniture around a joke.
The review
A father runs a lumber mill in the Virginia mountains, and the Depression sits on a large family instead of visiting for a speech. There is a mother, there are grandparents and children, and John-Boy wants to write. The wants stay small enough to believe. At night they say good night by name, a plain check that everybody is still under that roof.
Few shows this popular thought a family was the point. The work matters and the children are not props. Nobody is being nudged toward a bigger living room than the one the mill can carry. The hour is slow because the life is slow. If your people can stand quiet, this is one to leave on.

The glance
Courage is the thin one.
Does anyone risk something they would miss, or is it only noise?

Consider this
Little House on the Prairie
91 instead of 78
Little House on the Prairie is still a drama show, and it scores 91 instead of 78. What you gain is courage: Charles walks into weather, debt, and other people's trouble because the alternative is not being a man.
