Justified

The speech and the place are specific. The body count is the product. Not a hearth show.

The review
The Scots-Irish shelf does not get to claim every show set in the mountains. Justified knows the manners, the pride, and the economic leftovers. It then sells them as a gunfighter serial. Know the place. Do not take the marshal as a model of the place.
If you already know the country, the family episodes are the ones that tell the truth. The rest is a well-written way to watch men die. Leave it.

The glance
Household and Piety and Temperance and Stewardship are the thin ones.
Is a marriage, a parent, or a child a real life here, or just a prop?
This phone is set for a grown person, just me. Change the ages.
Consider this
Call the Midwife
53 instead of 41
Call the Midwife is still a drama show, and it scores 53 instead of 41. What you gain is stewardship: Every episode asks what will be left standing for the child who just took a breath.
The eight
- 6Industry
Law enforcement is a job he is good at and too ready to finish with a pistol.
- 3Household
Home is a place he resents. The family scenes are the best and the rarest.
- 2Piety
No operative faith. Wit stands in for a conscience.
- 6Courage
He walks in. He also shoots when a slower courage would have done.
- 5Republic
The law is real and he bends it. The show enjoys the bend.
- 2Temperance
Killing is stylish. That fails the measure no matter the county.
- 7Truth
Harlan sounds like itself. The criminals are not given a tourist dialect.
- 2Stewardship
Nothing is left but the next season's trouble.
