Craft · A child with you
Zach King
The magic is a cut you can explain. Five minutes is plenty.
You see him wind up and throw. The frame changes and the ball is gone and a bird, or a sword, or a hole in the floor, is where the ball was. It is funny because it is clean. It is also a job: marks on the ground, a second shot, an edit measured in frames. Say that to the child while the trick is still funny. Otherwise they file it under 'the world does that sometimes.'
One or two is a good dessert. The thirtieth is a man repeating a skill you have already understood. If the evening was supposed to teach a hand to do something, close it and go look at a real job in the house, which does not get to cut the hard second.
