Teaching · A child with you
NASA
The caption is a measurement. That is a good reason to look up, and a poor reason to keep scrolling.
A typical post is a dark field, a rover, or a pale dot, and a caption that says how far away the thing is and when the picture was taken. The subject does not know you exist. For a child who has been trained to think every screen is performing at them, that is a useful surprise. Nobody is asking them to like it.
Read one caption to the end and ask what the picture is of, in a sentence that includes the number. If the room cannot say, you were scrolling a pretty dark. Stop on that post. Later, after the lights are off, step outside and find one thing in the sky that already has a name you can look up tomorrow.

The eight
Industry
8/10
The interesting part is the rover, the telescope, and the people who aimed them.
Household
4/10
No kitchen, no children. A family can still stand in the yard and use it.
Piety
5/10
The scale makes a person smaller without mocking the person.
Courage
7/10
They send machines, and sometimes crews, toward a failure that would be public.
Republic
7/10
The pictures were paid for by a country, and they give them back.
Temperance
8/10
Nothing in the post needs you anxious or thrilled on a timer.
Truth
9/10
A distance, a date, a wavelength. You can argue with the number. You cannot vibe it.
Stewardship
8/10
The note is written so the next person can check it.
