Shoot the Messenger
Skip it on CBC if a thirteen-year-old can reach the set; the blurb already spends the family for the scandal.

It’s a CBC crime thriller about Daisy Channing, a young reporter who sees a killing she reads as gang work and then can’t drop the thread. The jobs are concrete—newsroom, homicide detective, editor, co-worker—and the plot claims the rot runs into corporate and political power. What we actually got is that setup, a messy personal life, and a warning that the story will destroy lives, including her family’s.
The honest good is that reporting and policing are treated as work that can matter to a city. The cost is everything else the blurb sells: private wreckage as fuel, a government-sized cover-up, and a house where a thirteen-year-old finds it alone and a nine-year-old is next. Is one evening of that worth what it leaves running in the kids’ heads tomorrow?
