Teaching · A child with you
National Geographic
The picture is of a place, not a face. Read the caption, then go look at your own street.
A good post from this account is almost boring in the way a field note is boring. A bird, or a glacier, or a street of people, and a paragraph that names the place and what is happening to it. The face in the frame, when there is one, is not the product. That is rare enough on this shelf to say without inflating it.
The failure mode is a child who can recognize a lion and has not looked at the tree on their own block. Look at one picture long enough to say what it is of. Then go to the door and name one living thing you can see without an account. If you cannot, the photograph replaced the walk instead of sending you.

The eight
Industry
7/10
Somebody stood in the weather long enough to get the frame. That is a job.
Household
4/10
A family is rarely the subject. The place a family has to live in often is.
Piety
5/10
A reef or a herd is treated as worth the trouble of seeing clearly.
Courage
6/10
The good pictures come from people who went where the shot was inconvenient.
Republic
7/10
An ocean and a migration are shown as shared, not as someone's brand.
Temperance
7/10
A still ends. It does not queue the next thrill by itself.
Truth
8/10
You can check the claim against the place, or against a scientist who was there.
Stewardship
9/10
The photograph is an argument that the thing in it should still be there later.
Live historicallyOne picture, read the caption aloud, then name one living thing visible from your own door.
