You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah
The party is the idol. The apology is the movie. Stay for the apology.
Stacy wants the party to prove she is someone. The film is ordinary until it admits that the party was never the mitzvah. A best friend, a father who is silly and present, and a room she has to walk back into are the actual goods. The middle is a lot of meanness played for a laugh. The end asks her to eat it.
Reasonable for a young teen with you there. Ask, before the dance montage, what the rite is for if you removed the guest list.
The eight
Industry
4/10
The work of a mitzvah is in the story. The planning of a party keeps crowding it out.
Household
6/10
Parents who are trying, a little sister, a best friend who is practically a relative.
Piety
5/10
A real rite is at the center, even while the film is joking about the DJ.
Courage
5/10
She has to stand up in front of people she has embarrassed and tell the truth.
Republic
5/10
A synagogue and a suburb. The community is invited, then used as an audience.
Temperance
4/10
Status, a boy, and humiliation comedy. The film does eventually call them small.
Truth
6/10
The turn is a confession, not a win. That is the right shape.
Stewardship
5/10
A rite exists so a child can be handed to a people. The film remembers that late, but it remembers.
Live historicallyHave one ceremony in your house this month that is not a performance. A meal, a prayer, a thank-you said standing up.
