The Devil Wears Prada 2

Work, excellence, and a house nowhere in the frame. Adults. The first film's warning still stands.

Two decades on, Runway is out of money and Andy is a serious journalist who walks back into Miranda's weather to save a magazine. Emily has a brand of her own. The competence is real. So is the old bargain: your life is the cost of being close to the work. The sequel is about an industry, not about a kitchen. If Andy has people who eat with her, the film is not interested in them enough to make them the stake.

Adults who liked the first can see it and test the ending. If she leaves again having kept a private life, good. If the emergency of the magazine is allowed to eat the years the way the first job did, you have watched a relapse with better tailoring. A publication is not a child. Do not sacrifice a household to a masthead.

The eight

  1. Industry

    8/10

Journalism and a magazine in real trouble. The craft is the subject.

  2. Household

    2/10

No table. Colleagues are the only company.

  3. Piety

    2/10

Taste as a ruthless religion. Not yours.

  4. Courage

    5/10

She goes back into a room that diminished her.

  5. Republic

    3/10

    An industry, not a public.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

The clothes, the hours, the contempt. Appetite with a standard.

  7. Truth

    5/10

Miranda's cruelty is not rewritten as kindness. Good. It is still employable.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

What is being saved is a brand. That is a thin posterity.
