The Dark Knight
The ferries refuse the bargain. The city is then asked to live on a lie.
The part worth keeping is the ferry. Two boats are given the chance to blow each other up, and ordinary people do not do it. That is a higher fact than the gadgets. Harvey Dent wanted a city that could try a man in daylight. He does not survive as that man.
The stain is the last choice. Batman and Gordon agree the city cannot be told what Dent became, so they tell it something else. A house can admire the courage and still refuse the method. A people that can only be good if it is lied to is not being kept. It is being managed.
The eight
Industry
7/10
Dent does the work of a prosecutor. Gordon does the work of a cop. The mask is a second job, not a hobby.
Household
5/10
Rachel is the choice they both fail. A home is what the last reel spends in order to keep a symbol.
Piety
6/10
The Joker offers a creed of nothing. The refusal is not a sermon. It is a ferry that will not press the button.
Courage
9/10
He takes the blame on purpose. The passengers will not murder the other boat to save themselves.
Republic
5/10
A city, a court, and a police force are the subject. The ending replaces them with a story the public is told to believe.
Temperance
4/10
The violence is the weather of the film. The killer is also played to be enjoyed.
Truth
6/10
It tells the truth that a good man's ruin can be hidden. Then it asks a city to prefer the hiding.
Stewardship
6/10
He keeps Dent's work by becoming the villain in the paper. A legend built on a falsehood is a fragile thing to hand a child.
Live historicallyDo not protect this house with a story you already know is false.
