Star Wars
He answers a call that is bigger than the farm. The teacher hides the hardest fact.
The farm is small and the empire is large, and the boy goes because someone asked. That is a clean courage. What the film will not sit with is the house he left, or the father he was not told about. The celebration at the end is a barracks, not a town.
A child can take the call. An adult should notice the missing kitchen. Duty to a cause is not yet duty to a people you will have to live with on Tuesday.
The eight
Industry
6/10
The farm is real work. The war that follows is a cause, not a trade.
Household
4/10
The aunt and uncle are killed and hardly mourned. No house is built.
Piety
6/10
The Force is a borrowed reverence. It asks for discipline, and it is still vague about whom.
Courage
8/10
He flies the trench for people he just met. The risk is not a stunt he walks away from unchanged.
Republic
7/10
A senate has fallen and a farm boy still thinks a republic is worth a death.
Temperance
6/10
The battle is large and not cruel for fun. The cantina is a shrug.
Truth
5/10
Ben tells the useful version of the father. The lie is kindness, and it is still a lie.
Stewardship
6/10
A weapon is destroyed. Nothing is planted. The next generation is only hinted.
Live historicallyAsk someone in the house what they would leave the farm for, and what they would refuse to leave.
