Spider-Man 2

Duty that ruins your afternoon and is still yours. The best of these. Keep it.

Peter is broke, late, and losing the woman he loves because he will not explain the nights. He stops. The crimes continue. The picture of him that matters is not the train fight, though the train fight is a civic miracle of ordinary people passing a body back to safety. It is a man who learns he does not get to resign from a capacity to help.

Old enough for a fight, young enough to still be forming a conscience: watch it together. Say that a gift is not a personality. It is a debt to the next person on the train.

A moral law he did not choose.

  4. Courage

    9/10

He goes back after he has quit.

    8/10

The train full of strangers carries him. That is a city behaving like a people.

    8/10
