Scooby-Doo

The dog is loyal. The movie is a beer commercial in a cartoon's clothes. Skip it if the children are young.

The original show was a clean machine: friends, a dog, a greedy man in a mask. This film winks so hard it pulls something. The island is a college party. The mysteries are an excuse for bodies and a potion. Scooby himself is still the loyal creature, and that is the only part worth the name.

If a child loves the dog, give them an episode where the villain is a man who wanted the land. Do not give them this spring break and call it the same story.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

They have a job and they bicker through it.

  2. Household

    3/10

A team, fraying. Not a house.

  3. Piety

    2/10

A fake ritual, played for a party.

  4. Courage

    4/10

They do go into the dark.

  5. Republic

    2/10

    An island of customers.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

The party is the product. Temperance is absent on purpose.

  7. Truth

    4/10

There is a real villain under the joke. The joke is most of the runtime.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

Little is handed on except a brand.

Live historicallyKeep the Saturday-morning version. Leave this one for adults who already know the joke.

A Doctor to Die For

Medicine is a trust. A poster that breaks it for a scare has not earned an evening.

The tile is a close face and a title that turns a physician into a body count. Sometimes that story is about a real betrayal of an oath, which is a grave subject. More often it is a white coat as a costume for a thriller. The desk will not invent the chart.

Do not learn what a doctor is from a poster like this. The oath is older than the twist. If the film is actually about the oath, the scores on truth and stewardship can be revisited. Until then it is a scare with a stethoscope.

The eight

  1. Industry

    4/10

    The profession is the bait.

  2. Household

    3/10

Care is the setting, not yet the good.

  3. Piety

    2/10

    An oath used as decor.

  4. Courage

    3/10

The thriller's nerve is the audience's.

  5. Republic

    3/10

    A clinic as a trap.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

    Dread is the sale.

  7. Truth

    4/10

A betrayed trust is a true subject, unproven here.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

It risks teaching fear of the person you may need.
