Mickey Mouse

Gentle and useful for a very small child. The tools are the lesson. Stop before the queue.

The continue-watching tile was a Mickey short, and the long shelf under that name is Clubhouse: a problem, a toolbox, friends who each do one part. For a very small child that is a fair use of ten minutes. The newer shorts are often only a gag with better drawing. Either way it is not a story you discuss at supper. It is a demonstration.

One. Then the real tools, even if the real tool is a spoon.

The eight

  1. Industry

    6/10

They pick the tool, they use it, the job gets done. A small child can see the order.

  2. Household

    5/10

Friends who help. No parents, and no one is abandoned.

  3. Piety

    3/10

Cheer is the mood. Nothing is sacred.

  4. Courage

    3/10

The problems are built to be solved.

  5. Republic

    5/10

A clubhouse is a little commons. Everyone gets a turn.

  6. Temperance

    8/10

No cruelty, no scare, no appetite.

  7. Truth

    6/10

The answer matches the problem. It does not cheat.

  8. Stewardship

    5/10

It hands a child the habit of 'which tool, then try.'
