Manifest

A family given their people back. The mystery gets louder than the gratitude.

The first hour is a genuine question: if the people you lost walked back in, would you still be theirs? That is worth an evening. What follows is a procedural of omens, and the family becomes the team that solves them. A calling that makes you help a stranger is close to a conscience. A calling that exists to keep a series on the air is not.

Older children can try the opening with you. Do not promise them the ending will be as serious as the premise.

The eight

  1. Industry

    5/10

Some of them go back to work. The callings keep pulling them out of it.

  2. Household

    6/10

Brothers, a mother, marriages that have had years stolen. The reunion is the best hour.

  3. Piety

    5/10

The voices are treated as moral orders. The theology is homemade and earnest.

  4. Courage

    6/10

They follow the instruction into danger for a stranger.

  5. Republic

    5/10

A government is frightened of them, and not always wrong to be.

  6. Temperance

    4/10

The twist is the appetite. It compounds.

  7. Truth

    5/10

The show wants a moral universe. It also wants a cliffhanger more.

  8. Stewardship

    5/10

A second chance is a stewardship. The series keeps spending it on lore.

Bluey Book Reads

An adult voice, a book, a child listening. Use it once, then read a book yourself.

This is not a new story. It is famous people reading the stories the series already told, which are stories about a mother, a father, and two girls at play. A read-aloud is a good form. A celebrity is not required for it, and the desk will not pretend the celebrity is the good.

Put it on if it gets a child to be still for a book. Then you do the next one. The measure is the lap and the last page, not the name under the title.

The eight

  1. Industry

    4/10

Reading is a craft. Here someone else does it.

  2. Household

    8/10

The books are about a household. Hearing them still counts.

  3. Piety

    3/10

Quiet attention. That is as close as it gets.

  4. Courage

    2/10

    None required.

  5. Republic

    3/10

A public person in your living room, which is a small cost.

  6. Temperance

    8/10

A short story, ended. No binge built in if you stop.

  7. Truth

    7/10

The family on the page tells the truth about play and repair.

  8. Stewardship

    6/10

A book is the thing being handed across. Good. Take the job back.
