Iron Man 2
A famous inventor is dying of his own machine and would rather throw a party than tell the truth.

A father's legacy and a man's vanity. The party is the tell. Adults.
Tony is poisoned by the thing that keeps him alive and responds with spectacle. His father's old film, left behind, is the one adult object in the movie: a man who could not say it in the room and said it on a reel. Ivan Vanko wants revenge for a stolen partnership. The Senate wants the suit. None of them are a household. Pepper is an employee he loves badly.
Adults. The measure is whether brilliance excuses the waste. It does not. Take the scene where he has to hand the work to someone else. Leave the expo.

The birthday party is the diagnosis.
Truth
5/10
The father's reel is a late truth. Tony's press conferences are not.
Stewardship
4/10
A technology too dangerous to be one man's mood. The film barely believes this.
