How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
A comedy built on a double fraud. Light, and not a model.
The magazine pitches are the villain, and the film wants you to blame them and forgive the couple, who keep the pitches going well past the point of shame. They are good-looking and New York is pretty and the lie is mutual, which the movie thinks is a balance. A mutual lie is two lies. The affection that arrives later does not un-tell them.
Enjoy the dress if you must. Say, before someone in the room takes notes, that a column is not a reason to borrow a person. There are duller and better ways to meet.
