Friends

They stay. That loyalty is real. The joke is very often the bed.

The reason people stayed for ten years is that the six of them do not leave. That is a picture of friendship as a daily fact, and it is the part a house can use. The engine of the episodes is who slept with whom, told as if the consequence is the next joke.

Adults who already know it can see the loyalty and skip the rest. It is a poor teacher for a teenager who has not yet had a friend older than a crush. The coffee shop is not a life.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

The jobs are hobbies. Chandler's office is a gag. Ross's science is a prop.

  2. Household

    5/10

They function as a household and postpone marriage. The last season remembers the children and the vow, late.

  3. Piety

    2/10

Nothing is sacred. A wedding is a place for a joke.

  4. Courage

    4/10

They show up for each other. The courage is social, not costly.

  5. Republic

    3/10

The city is an apartment. Neighbors exist to be odd.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

Sex is the weekly engine. The laugh depends on it.

  7. Truth

    4/10

They are honest with each other more often than with the person they are dating.

  8. Stewardship

    4/10

What they hand on is the group. A child watching will learn the group, and the bit.

Live historicallySit with a friend and talk for an hour without a screen and without a story about someone you dated.

Mayor of Kingstown

Order without goodness. A town that feeds on cages will not raise free men.

Kingstown's business is locking men up, and one family has appointed itself the middleman between gangs, guards, and city hall. It charted on Netflix; it was built for Paramount+. The competence is the hook. Watch long enough and the competence starts to look like a eulogy for self-government.

There is courage in walking into a room where nobody intends to keep a promise. There is no piety, almost no temperance, and no posterity. A young man watching this will learn that power is whoever can threaten calmly. That is an education. It is the wrong one. If you already know the difference between keeping the peace and being good, you may study it. Do not let it raise anybody.

The eight

  1. Industry

    5/10

The work is real and grim: fixing what the law will not.

  2. Household

    4/10

Blood family, used as a firm. Love is mostly logistics.

  3. Piety

    2/10

No moral law above the deal. Survival is the only creed.

  4. Courage

    6/10

Men walk into rooms that can kill them. That part is not fake.

  5. Republic

    3/10

The republic has been replaced by brokers. Cynicism is the air.

  6. Temperance

    2/10

Violence is the weather, and the show likes the climate.

  7. Truth

    4/10

Deals are kept when they have to be. That is not the same as truth.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

The town has no future tense. The prison is the inheritance.
