The cheat fails. The work is the door. Keep it.
Mike wants the scaring program more than he wants to be honest about his limits. Sully has the talent and the laziness. They cheat. They are expelled. The film does not arrange a speech that undoes the expulsion. They get into the factory by starting at the bottom, in the mailroom, and becoming good. That is a rarer ending than a campus comedy usually allows.
A child old enough to understand a cheat can watch it. Say that wanting a place is not a claim on the place. The friendship is real because it begins again after the disgrace.
