The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
An engagement that requires you to leave the human table is not a vow.
Eclipse offers Bella a ring and a battle and treats them as the same kind of promise. They are not. A vow is a way of staying. This one is a schedule for leaving her father, her friends, and her own pulse, and the film lights it like a proposal because it has nothing else it believes in. The wolves and the vampires can settle their feud without a girl agreeing to be unmade.
Do not hand it to a young person. If you already know the story, you do not need the battle to remember the lesson: intensity is not fidelity.
