Hotel Transylvania
A father's fear after a loss. The joke is loud. The love is real.
Dracula lost his wife to a human mob and decided the answer was a fortress. The film thinks the grief is legitimate and the fortress is not. His daughter is not a prisoner in his mind. She is a person with a life, and the human boy is ordinary, not a monster in reverse.
The gags are incessant. The shape is a father learning that protection can become possession. That is a film a parent needs more than a child does. Watch it that way.
