The Godfather
A son who wanted out becomes the head of a crime family and calls the ruin a duty.

A true tragedy. It shows the bill, and it also makes the life look magnificent. Both matter.
Michael Corleone loses his soul in installments, and the film is honest enough to show you the empty chair at the end. That honesty is why it is not scored with the shows that think a killer is a brand. It is a tragedy, and tragedy can tell the truth.
It also films power so beautifully that generations of men have volunteered for the tragedy on purpose. The standard counts that. A story that tells the truth and still recruits for the ruin is a dangerous story. Watch it once as an adult, see the door close on Kay, and decline the recruitment. Family is not loyalty to a crime. Family is a table your children can sit at without becoming accomplices.
Live historically
Notice one place you have called loyalty what is actually silence about a wrong. Break the silence once.

The eight
Industry
6/10
The family is grimly competent. The business is crime.
Household
5/10
Blood is everything, which is why the household becomes a fortress and a tomb.
Piety
3/10
Ritual everywhere. Repentance almost nowhere. The baptism is a montage of murder.
Courage
6/10
Michael sacrifices his soul with his eyes open. That is courage pointed backward.
Republic
2/10
The state is a nuisance. Private power is the real government.
Temperance
4/10
Appetite is controlled in the men who win, which makes them scarier, not better.
Truth
4/10
Omertà is a counterfeit of keeping one's word.
Stewardship
3/10
What he hands his son is a closed door and a lie.
