Ingredients

6
  • 6 apples, sliced
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pie crust

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat the oven to 375°F.

  2. 2

Toss the apples with the molasses and cinnamon. Put them in a baking dish and dot with butter.

  3. 3

Lay the crust over the apples. Cut a few slits.

  4. 4

Bake 30 minutes. Take it out and break the crust into the fruit with a spoon.

  5. 5

Bake 20 minutes more, until the apples are soft and the crust is browned.

The breaking of the crust is the whole point of the name. Do not skip it.
