Threads

A feed of other people's moods. A teen does not need a second public self next to Instagram.

Would you still put it on?

A public conversation attached to Instagram. Short posts, fast replies, the same crowd.

What it really is

Threads is Instagram's text feed. The faces are the same, the stake is being seen, and the pace is a reply. A teenager who already performs on one Meta app does not become more thoughtful by performing in sentences.

If they want to write, a letter or a paper journal will do more for them than a post that needs a number under it.

Live historically

No second public account. If they have a thought worth keeping, they write it down where no one claps.

The eight

  1. Industry

    3/10

Writing a sentence is a skill. This rewards the sentence that travels, not the true one.

  2. Household

    3/10

The argument comes to the dinner table already lost.

  3. Piety

    3/10

Nothing is held as holy for longer than a reply chain.

  4. Courage

    4/10

Speaking in public can be brave. Most of what travels is not.

  5. Republic

    4/10

A square can be good. This square has no elders and no closing time.

  6. Temperance

    2/10

    The reply is the hook.

  7. Truth

    4/10

People say what they think, and also what will be liked. You cannot tell which.

  8. Stewardship

    3/10

It leaves a record of quarrels and a habit of having them.
