Telegram Messenger

Fine as a letter to people you know. The public channels are a feed with no editor. Keep the chats. Leave the channels.

Would you still put it on?

A messenger with large public rooms. The letter and the crowd use the same app.

What it really is

Telegram's private chat is a tool, like any letter. Its channels are something else: vast rooms, thin rules, and a teenager who can join what he would never be allowed to walk into. The icon does not tell you which of the two he opened.

Ask. If the answer is a channel, it comes off. If the answer is three people whose parents you could call, it may stay.

Live historically

No public channels. Chats only with people the family can name.

The eight

  1. Industry

    4/10

It does not teach a trade. It carries whatever the room is doing.

  2. Household

    4/10

A family chat is a good. A channel of strangers is not family.

  3. Piety

    3/10

Large rooms have no shared reverence and no one to stop them.

  4. Courage

    4/10

Speaking where no one knows you feels brave. It is often only hidden.

  5. Republic

    3/10

A channel of ten thousand is not a republic. No one is responsible.

  6. Temperance

    3/10

    Channels update forever.

  7. Truth

    4/10

    Forwards travel faster than corrections.

  8. Stewardship

    4/10

The private letters can be a record of care. The channels will not be.
