Snapchat

Leave it. A streak is a leash, the map is a publication of where your child is, and the vanishing picture is how people send what they would not sign.

Would you still put it on?

Pictures that vanish, a map of where they are, and a streak that punishes silence.

What it really is

Snapchat's streak is a small cruelty: miss a day and the number dies, so the teenager answers a machine before he answers sleep. The map adds a second problem. Friends can see where he is. So can anyone he added to make the number go up.

Vanishing messages teach the opposite of a word you can stand behind. This one does not get a trial period.

Live historically

Delete it. Tell the friends the family does not do streaks.

The eight

  1. Industry

    2/10

    No work survives the view.

  2. Household

    2/10

The map tells a crowd where the child is. That is not a family.

  3. Piety

    2/10

What vanishes is often what should never have been sent.

  4. Courage

    2/10

The streak makes absence feel like a failure of nerve.

  5. Republic

    2/10

A score with friends is not a duty. It is a chain.

  6. Temperance

    1/10

Missing a day is treated as a loss. That is the product.

  7. Truth

    2/10

A picture that disappears is a poor promise.

  8. Stewardship

    2/10

It leaves anxiety and a map, not a skill.
