Libby

A library that still works. Borrow a book. Then read it, or the card is a costume.

Would you still put it on?

Your library card, and the books it can borrow, on the phone.

What it really is

Libby does not invent a story. It lets a library card work. That is a better use of a phone than almost anything else on this shelf. A town that still lends books is a town that has not given the evening entirely to a company.

Get the card if you do not have one. Borrow one book this week. If it sits unopened behind a row of videos, you have joined a library the way some people join a gym. The measure is the reading.

Live historically

Borrow one book on the card and read the first chapter before the week is out.

The eight

  1. Industry

    7/10

Borrowing and returning is a small discipline, and the app keeps it.

  2. Household

    7/10

A book in the house, chosen instead of a feed.

  3. Piety

    4/10

No creed. A library will lend you almost anything. You still choose.

  4. Courage

    5/10

The courage is in what you check out, not in the software.

  5. Republic

    8/10

A public library is one of the last common shelves. This keeps the door open.

  6. Temperance

    8/10

A due date is a better teacher than an infinite scroll.

  7. Truth

    8/10

The book is the book. The app is the card.

  8. Stewardship

    9/10

You return it so the next house can have it. That is stewardship in one gesture.
