The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Grief dressed up as devotion. A cliff is not courage.

Would you still put it on?

A boy leaves, a girl goes hollow, and the film calls the hollowness a love story.

What it really is

He leaves to keep her safe, and the film spends the rest of its time admiring how badly she comes apart. That is the tell. A story that loves a girl's collapse more than her recovery is not on her side. The father, again, is the adult. He is worried, present, and written as a man who does not understand the plot. He understands it better than the plot does.

Do not hand this to a young person who is already learning to confuse pain with depth. If you are grown and you watch it, watch it as a warning about the kind of love that needs you diminished.

Live historically

If a mood has been running your week, do one ordinary duty anyway. The mood does not get a vote.
