Frozen

Fear is not love. A sister is not a mistake. The song is famous. The reversal is better.

Elsa is told concealment is love, and the kingdom pays for the lie in ice. Anna's act of true love is not a kiss from a prince she met yesterday. It is a sister stepping between a sword and the person she will not give up. Hans is a suitor who wanted the throne. The film is clear about him, which saves a generation of children from one bad lesson and nearly teaches them another: that a stranger's charm is the thing to suspect. Good. Suspect it.

The storm is a picture of a powerful girl who was trained to be ashamed. Let her out. Do not let her burn the town down either. The ending holds both.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks

The substitute mother proves a house under fire still has real work.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks is a 1971 Disney fantasy about an English woman studying witchcraft who becomes substitute mother to three children evacuated in the war. The trade is magic as a craft you study and botch until it holds; the appetite is for control when the world is breaking the door. A house should take the children in, put them to the work, and meet the raid without waiting for perfect spells.

The film keeps the stakes light and the songs bright, so the cost stays mostly spectacle. Even so the premise is sound: household and craft can stand when the republic calls and the roof must hold.
