Wood Ash Cement and a Fired Brick Hut

The craft is excellent. The life is a man with no one to hand it to. Watch the hands. Do not copy the solitude.

Would you still put it on?

A man, alone, turns ash and clay into a hut that will stand.

What it really is

The hands are worth your time. Ash becomes cement. Brick becomes a room. That is industry in its oldest clothes, and a boy who only knows screens should see it once.

Then say the other half out loud. A house is not a hut you built so you would not need anyone. Skill without a household is a very clean kind of poverty. Admire the wall. Do not admire the emptiness around it.

Live historically

Show a child one job done all the way through. Then eat with them, so the skill has a table.

The eight

  1. Industry

    10/10

Skill, patience, and a result you could sleep in.

  2. Household

    2/10

There is no wife, no child, no table. The hut is a monument to being alone.

  3. Piety

    3/10

The forest is treated with care. Conscience toward people is not in the frame.

  4. Courage

    8/10

The work is hard and he does not quit when a wall fails.

  5. Republic

    3/10

A republic needs neighbors. This film has none.

  6. Temperance

    8/10

No feed, no luxury, no wink at the camera.

  7. Truth

    8/10

The method is shown honestly, including the failures.

  8. Stewardship

    7/10

The hut remains. No one is being taught to keep it.
